Rip N Slash

Anyone know where i can get one? EVERYONE is sold out. Im in Palm Harbor, which is near Clearwater. I have gone to 6 local tackle shops as well as the big name stores (as well as Bill Jacksons, where i got them last time). They either dont carry Unfair brand lures or are solt out altogether. Does someone have the inside scoop on where i can find them? Thanks!

Only place I've seen them (today) was Gulf to Bay on St.Pete Beach

What is the big deal about these lures? Just marketing hype? I own one of them and have honestly only used it once, however I was just not impressed with the action at all. Is there a special technique or area where they shine? I felt like a was fishing a heavy mirrodine with less action. Please Enlighten Me!

Oh, and as of a few days ago they were in stock at the tackle shop right next to Hooter's on 4th street north (St. Petersburg)...not sure on the exact cross avenue but near 50th.

If you can't find one locally, it looks like you can order them online:

Hope this helps & Happy Holidays....Mike

I felt the same way too. And then I had a few good days of catching them on a liveglow white rip 'n slash versus my go-to mirrordine and the rip 'n slash out performed the mirrordine by about 3 fish to 1...

I got one off ebay, first fish was a 4lb red and he smashed up and broke the rear hook off in his mouth I was pissed, figure the hardware would hold up better. I took a hook off a small rapala to replace it and didn't catch anything else with it.it is made well except the hooks,i like the swivel ,and the sub surface action is good

I bought 2 last year. Fished with one and didnt really catch anything to brag about. 2 days later the hooks were rusted to hell. My mirrolures dont do that!

    Hey everyone,
Thanks for the updates and advice.
My go to hard bait has always been the mirrodean. I picked up a Rip n Slash and have been using it for months. It catches everything and has been super durable, no cracks, breaks, rust or anything. I have no idea why they work better for me. It really just boils down to personal preference and comfort throwing that bait. I have talked to 5 different tackle shops and each one had a different suggestion of what is better and why.
    MY go to baits are:
Top water : Spook jr in bone
Suspend: Rip n slash in olive
Soft: Z man Paddlerz in Houdini with either 1/8 oz red jighead (no real preference) or 1/8 oz weighted weedless hook.

How to do retrieve these lures to get the best action out of them?
  • nymetsfan8131nymetsfan8131 Posts: 98 Deckhand
Slow to medium retrieve, with little twitches. Makes it mimic an injured baitfish. after i twitch ill let it set for maybe a second. Also depending on weather, if the water is cooler ill slow it down. Just vary the retrieve until you find what works.
