Not a good day - Daughter in accident

triplenettriplenet Posts: 747 Officer
On her way home from school - she picked up my 9 yo from school and was heading home..... left bumper to left bumper thru a light...

Took my little one away in ambulance......... 9yo got several stitches and my oldest is fine - just shaken up....

Had a cigarette to calm down - dont tell my kids ...

Guess I owe one to the big guy up there .... :hail

Glad no one was seriously hurt.

Looks like the white car, turned into the gray one?

    Wow, glad it's only stitches.
I would keep them home from school tomorrow to make sure they are not hurting in the morning.

Thanks..... Yes sir - she was in her grey car going straight - other "kid" didnt see her and started to turn ---- wack.....around 30mph

Biggest problem - some idiot that made the left before they hit said he saw my my daughter hit the white car - said he looked in his rear view mirror.... Impossible - left bumper to left bumper...

Some idiot community aide worker said she had to write it up as the witness said - I was losing my mind.... Here is the evidence - its physically impossible that the white car had right of way...... grey car would have hit his RIGHT bumper or quarter panel..

I lost it on her.... she later came to hospital and said I was right - but she had to right it up as the witness said... I dont get it.. ?

It would probably pay to ask a good attorney to give his opinion on this! Sorry about the accident.

I'm pretty sure any competent judge will look at that pic, and see the white car is in your daughters lane. Add to that any facts such as where your daughter was coming from, and going to (school to home). You might also want to deal directly with the white cars insurance. You should have their info from the police report, when you get it.

Sorry to hear this, but glad they are OK.

Glad there were no serious injuries. They will both probably be sore tomorrow. Talk to the other insurance company but don't give them permission to record the conversation. If they insist, 1-800-ASK-GARY.

    Glad everyone is okay.
Many long-time members will recall when I thanked the TraumaHawk guys for taking care of my baby. To this day, will never forget the phone call. Found out you can't beat the helicopter to Delray no matter how fast you go.

I sent a memo with pics and site plan showing the intersection and directions to my attorney....

I am amazed that the Broward Service Aide would write up a report based on an eye witness that saw the accident in his "rear view mirror"...

The evidence is so clear...... I ripped her a new hole and 30 min later she came to hospital and "off the record" said I was right - but "had to write it up based on eye witness".....

Feel bad for the little one - she got an eyebrow full of stitches and a boxers nose from hitting the dash.....

Pouring a scotch now... need to chill a bit

Thanks all for your best wishes....

Here is my middle daughter - kidding around in the ER.... while the little one was getting stitches....

Lord.., sure you're still shaking, scotch or not.

Glad they're okay, but would have been nice if you had a witness close by when the "tech" came by to talk with you. Pretty obvious though, should work out okay.

They have to write it down, being they were a witness. Did you ever think that possibly that person and the one that hit your daughter, might know each other?

Seat belts, seat belts, seat belts.

    Did I mention SEAT BELTS??????

Thank goodness they're ok. It could have been much worse.

Especially since someone wasn't wearing a seat belt.

People have died in lesser accidents than that, almost always when they're not.....

20 min before that same daughter was crying her eyes out cause they pulled away in an ambulance and the little one was all bloody and on stretcher ....

Then once she knew the little one was ok - she started her joking around ......

This is going to be her next seat belt

Man that is a call I hope I never receive. I would be a mess until I seen her and assessed the situation myself. Glad for the most part it is a minor injury.

Triplenet, I'm sorry to hear about the accident but glad to hear that your daughter is okay. A word of advice as a friend, however: there are certain things you may want to delete from this thread, e.g., comments about the seat belt . . .

It is good that your children will be OK. I hope the one with stiches recovers fully.
You did the right thing by contacting YOUR lawyer. Do not deal with the other drivers insurance company yourself. Let your lawyer do that.
Also allow no one to inspect your daughters car. If it is at impound, get it back home and get it covered up. Investigators will want to tap into the vehicles event recorder data, do not allow it.

    Food for thought.
Everything you see in a mirror is backwards.
People never see accidents in a mirror, they look in the mirror when they hear the crash, by then the seeing is over.
Strap me in, tie me down and roll me a bone, I'm getting on an airplane and I'm flying home...

Thats what I told the person writing the report... "how can u take the word of a witness that was looking in rear view mirror over the logical evidence in front of you"...

All my friends are **** attorneys.... No offense to any lawyers here.... So all will work out...

Car is probably totaled - other car hit hers right on the left tire - axle is ripped out and pushed back - frame may be bent a bit ... value of car around 5k... minus 1k deduct - so looks like its car buying time again...

Hey Triplenet - glad to hear it wasn't very serious in the injury department. Thank God! :angel
  • saltybradsaltybrad Posts: 502 Officer
Glad to hear it wasn't serious, but even a fender bender blamed on a wrong person can have disasterous implications. I was in an accident yesterday, and the girl that hit me broad sided try to say that I hit her. I saw her telling the police in front of me that I was at fault and it took everything I had not to lose my cool. The police are very discreet now and use some sort of service to handle getting the reports available to insurance companies without laying blame at the accident scene. Everyone should just have an attorney on retainer with this type policy.
