Cod & Capers seafood just off 95 and PGA Blvd has live lobster for $5.99/lb. Hardshells...no culls, semi-soft, or rejects. 1 to 1 1/2 lb average. Just picked up 3. Mmmmm

When I lived in NJ, we'd head up to RI, MA, and ME often to go codfishing. Used to love buying lobs right off the boats. Used to be $4 for a cull and $5 for a "regular". Weight wasn't measured...most went about 1.5 lbs. The crabs (I believe they're Jonah crabs or something like that) used to be 25¢ with 1 claw, or 50¢ with 2 claws. Then a lot of supermarkets and seafood markets started carrying them, and prices went up to about 2 bucks a piece. This was about 10 years ago, so not sure what they are now. Lobster have gotten more plentiful now, so the lobstermen might not even mess with the crabs anymore?
Oh...you must have taken 1387 different opinions from others about what I should or should not be doing, and mistaken it for me saying it

So after all that advice, most of which was very good, you are disregarding it all and continuing in your normal ways?
Regarding the lobsters, that's a good price, I am actually at a client's office right now in Palm Beach and not too far from PGA. Did they have a lot of them?
Didn't say I am or am not...just that I never said any of my own intentions on that thread
Maybe a dozen or so left. Not sure if they might have a tank in the back or not

That's a bunch of moose muffins, but anyway....WATCH OUT BUYING LOBSTER this time of year. Very often you find low prices and this is because there are a lot of "shedders"......lobsters that have recently shed their shells and are full of water instead of meat. They do this differently than a Fla. lobster....I think it takes longer because the water is so much colder, but don't know for sure. OP said there were none of these, but it is really hard to tell sometimes.
They shed different because of the 2 large appendeges sticking out in front of them that have to split and molt too. Twice as much to molt takes twice as long.
Moose muffins? You don't know lobster.
As far as softies, none at Cods & Capers. I always make it a point to check before buying lobs, because I hate paying a ton of money for a water filled shell.

Bubba, I was born and raised in New England. And lobster claws DO NOT split when it molts. They only split where the carapace meets the tail (just like a Fla. lobster) and the soft claws back out of the old shell. Trust me on this....I have sat in front of an aquarium and watched the whole process.....both species.
The time difference I am talking about, comes when the new shell fills up with meat. If you have never opened a lobster (hard shell) with much less meat than normal, and a lot of water inside, then I respectfully suggest that YOU do not know lobster. I believe that Maine lobsters do not shed as often as the Fla. variety. So when they pump up the new shell with water before it hardens, they might make it a little bigger, to allow for growth. THIS I don't know about for sure, but I HAVE eaten plenty of lobsters in the month of August that were hard, but seemingly only like half full of meat.
