I graduated from Pool School

Pool school last night, gradiated with honors! :applause:applause

My pool was plumbed for another type of automatic cleaner that used pressure(Polaris) vs. suction (Keepy Krawley). that is why I could not get the new pool robot to work. That is being fixed today by the pool guy by re-plumbing some of the pipes and adding a new valve.

I decided to do the pool maintenance by myself for a while, I will just take water samples, once-a-week, to Pinch-A-Penny and go from there.

Also, the house that I bought was Bank Owned for a while and most of the pool equipment was raided by someone. They even took the pool light bulb, the on/off switch that operates it and the plastic terminals on the pool returns with which you can adjust the water flow.:willynilly

pinch a penny is a scam they always want to sell you some stuff that you probably dont need by the end of the month youll spend more on chemicals and gas going back and forth than just getting a pool guy.:Rockon

Yup! They will sell you shock, algae kill etc.. LOL ..If the surface is ruined just add 1 2.5 gallon jug of chlorine a week and a 1/4 jug of acid and 1 stabilized 3 inch tab in the floater. Then when you get acidic 7.0-7.2 add some sodium barcarbonate to get it akaline again. If the surface is good then add calcium to keep the hardnes correct(about every 3-4months) In the winter add 1/2 of what i told you and stop using the tabs..

I have nothing but good to say about my local Pinch A Penney. I go in there maybe every 8-10 days and over 90% of the time my pool water tests perfect. Once in a while I'll have to add a few cups of acid or a 1/2 jug of chlorine.

Before finding this store I used another Pool supply store. That place was a complete rip off. It was always at least a 2 1/2 gal. jug of chlorine, 5 lbs. of this. 16 oz. of that every trip. (you get the idea).

Just shop around (assuming you can) for a pool store you're comfortable with.
