If you didn't see Zimms post in another thread about people making basketball comments, look it up. It was a tongue in cheek crack, but run with it if you must.
Since you asked though. They do play football and basketball in the Big 10 (12 teams :huh). I believe they have even played in a couple of NC games in both sports in the recent past. I don't think they won though.

I don't follow every thread, but I was joking with you as well. Your comment was funny and directed at the ACC obviously. I just thought I'd twist it to the Big Ten too.

Sad that the two teams with the weakest schedules get rewarded.
Also.....sorry to the Buckeye fans when I said that fsu was OSU based on schedule......seems it is even weaker than that!
It's obvious that SoS is important to the SEC guys, probably because you are playing in what is currently the toughest conference.
In the rest of the world winning matters. And you, or the other SoS guys can toss out last years OSU team if you want, but 24 straight wins means something. Winning in college football means something regardless of who you play.
On paper OSU probably isn't a top 10 team. Just as on paper UF isn't a 4-8 team. But the game is played on the field and not on paper.

According to the Sagarin strength of schedule ratings, Auburn's schedule rates as the 26th-best in Division I, while Missouri's is 41st, Ohio State's 61st and Florida State's 66th.
So glad this system is going away after this year.
In my opinion FSU could loose in a fluke game to Duke and not drop below 2. With Winston I think they are the most dominate team in the game, right now.
If Winston gets arrested and MSU upsets OSU, yes you could have SEC v SEC. Still don't it's likely.

I will just keep telling myself you are a OHIO State homer......FSU would get destroyed by Alabama, Auburn, Mizzou ( with a healthy Franklin), I think even Ohio State could keep up with them......Gators were taking it to FSU in the first quarter until Burton got hurt.....And we are playing with 2nd and 3rd stringers.
I will just keep telling myself you are a OHIO State homer......I think even Ohio State could keep up with them.......
Tell yourself whatever makes you feel better. But the fact is that FSU, regardless of who and where they played, dominated everyone on their schedule.
I've mentioned it numerous times on this forum that if OSU and FSU do match up to bet the OVER. There will be 100 +/- scored in that game. I think OSU can score with any team in the country. Whoever they match up with in a bowl the game will come down to defensive stops but not scoring.
I don't think any of it matters if Winston gets arrested though. If he is arrested sometime this week and FSU still beats Duke I suspect final BCS rankings put FSU at 3rd with AU and OSU above them.

I could walk onto a basketball court at the local elementary school and dominate everyone of of those little punks too. Does that make me the next Lebron? I would say no.......SOS is a big deal........No reason why a cupcake schedule like FSU had should be ahead of a SEC team that played 4 or 5 top 20 ranked teams .
No it isn't. The fact is that SoS factor in the early BCS formula was only 1/4 of the computers 1/3 of the total BCS formula. Sometime later (I think 2004 or 2007) SoS became even less relevant than it was, which wasn't much to begin with.
SoS is honestly only important to SEC guys BECAUSE they consistently have the toughest SOS due to their conference.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong but like it or not that is the way it is.

Don't need to troll. Just call it like I see it. Your team is lucky to be where it is. Your team will be lucky to win. Your team will continue to live off the gifts the SEC gives it or take another beating by it. That is exactly why people are talking about Auburn jumping OSU if they beat Mizz. That is why there is a .027 margin between your undefeated team and a 1 loss SEC team. Call it crying, bad at trolling, etc, but you know its true.

Strength of Schedule does matter in most sports. You get chosen to play in the NCAA based on who you beat, not just that you won. You get picked to host regional CWS games based on who you beat.
Hell.....look at boxing.......a guy goes undefeated in his local gym......he is 12-0.......should he get a shot at the Championship belt?
Yes, fsu and OSU have won all their games....but who did they beat?
fsu beat Clemson.....so did USC.
fsu beat UM.....who got launched up the rankings when they beat UF.....which was obviously not worthy of the accolades.
fsu beat UMD.....a team no better than UF and not deserving of rankings.
OSU.....beat no one.
Either team may be the best in the country......but they should have to earn their way to prove it much like teams with real schedules have to do.
Do you really think either team would likely be undefeated if they had Tex A&M schedule......they played the current #3, #4, #5 & #15 teams.

I've read enough of your posts to know that you know scheduling college football games is not an easy thing to do. When OSU scheduled CAL they were a top 10 team. We also had SEC Vandy on the schedule this year. Wisconsin, Purdue, Penn St and NW should have been better than they are. None of this is OSU's fault, and that is why wins > SoS.
If you pretend for a minute that the SEC sucked and the Big Ten was the dominate conference but UF went undefeated, you wouldn't care about SoS either. SoS is only important to those who are in the better (or best) conference.
College football is like March Madness all season long.

If you are in a lesser conference and play weaker opponents.....you should get less credit than a team that played several tough games and perhaps lost one or two.
Hey....if a team goes undefeated in the CFL......shouldn't they play in the SuperBowl? Why not?

Why?
You will cry next year too.
Because 4 SEC teams can not go to the play off either.

We could still have SEC vs SEC in the NCG....No?
Doubt it.

Nobody is crying here you dumb ****. Just arguing for the teams that belong to be able to play, not some has been wannabe skating through.

We aren't talking about most sports. We are talking about how the BCS works in college football. The fact is SoS is not that important in the BCS.
It could also be argued that winning in most sports is more important than SoS.
Can you imagine the Yankees (or whatever team you want) being left out of the play offs after not losing a game in two years? It's ludicrous.
