We were hoping to get out and find some debris floating after the storm. Clear the inlet around 6:30 and look for bait. Running along the beach we spot some birds working and deploy the rigs, got all the bait we needed for the day. There was such a variety: goggleye, sardines, greenies, cigar minnows, runners it was awesome. Inside of us you could see the jack and tarpon crashing all the bait along the beach. Got our bait and ran out looking for anything floating. We found some scattered weed in 300 with bait so we put out the spread. Trolled along those for 45 minutes without any luck so we trolled further east. In 500 we found some more weed but again, no luck. Some captains asked if it was worth the run offshore so I let them know about the weeds we found but that we couldn't find anyone home. At 10 we brought in the lines and ran 15 miles off to find nothing floating and trolled back in. In 500 we make the call to run in and just bend a rod since we had the livies. I get to the last rod out pink/white islander and pop it out of the outrigger, then the line starts screaming off. Finally fish on. Get a couple cranks on him and a beautiful marlin gos to the air. We get about five or six jumps out of it before the hooks pulled loose. We didn't get any shots or a close enough look to tell what kind of marlin but it was a larger specimen definitely 150+ lbs. We ran into 250ft where we find something crashing the surface so we get set up and begin live chumming, in hopes of tuna. Turns out to be bonito but we had a blast. A couple boats come in and drive right over the fish then the actoin stopped. I took a moment to pour a little menhaden oil into the livewell and as it dispursed out the bonito came right back up in the slick. we called it a day at 1 but had an absolute blast. Plenty of bait along the beaches and even loads of mullet in the ICW. The jellyfish have thinned WAY out but some stragglers are still around in the ICW and offshore.
my attmpt at getting a shot of the bonies in the slick.
Great stuff. Doesn't it just figure? The day I wrote off to do nothing and save fuel due to the west wind is the day a marlin gets hooked right off jupiter.

Great report as usual!!! :applause
That marlin must have been awesome to see.
I also loved the shot of all the bait in your well. I received a few offshore reports from other captains telling me that bait was hard to find.
Looks like you hit the mother lode of bait.
Take care my friend.
Cheers
