refuse to do a job when you feel its not safe ? The propellers weight 350#s each there is no davit to get them out of the water, there is no fork lift to get them in the plane, the plane would be at max weight or close to it with us and the tools its a 575 mile flight over the ocean. The marina is full of sharks
If you can't make that decision on your own, you should go to work for someone.
There should be NO Commercial Fishing for any fish species considered 'Over-fished' , 'Undergoing Overfishing' or Subject to Recreational Seasons, Limits, or Closures... Game Fish Status IS the Answer !!!
It's not poor business practice to pass on a job you think is unsafe. It's very poor business practice to lack the creativity and will to figure out how to do the job. You can make any job safe if you put enough thought, time and money into it.

I am a pilot and would have no trouble if what you say is true, that the plane would be at max weight. The planes are designed to fly just fine at maximum legal weight. I also would do the 575 mile flight over the ocean, hopefully you will have a life raft and safety equipment.
If you are flying at over maximum weight that certainly is dangerous.
If the propellers are heavy and you can't figure out how to get them in or out of the plane, then that is another issue.
I also have dove for years around sharks. Unless they are Great White, Bull, Tiger, or a few other species you probably will be ok with the sharks.

I have been working underwater for thirty years belive me when i say its not a good job.
If you don't think the job is safe, don't take it. I think it would be worse business practice to take a dangerous job, get hurt, or worse, and lose out on future income. It sounds like you don't want the job so don't take it.
I did not get to see the details before your edit, but later posts have given me a clue.
That said, not in your line of work it is not.
Although from your previous post, I thought your job was over when you removed the props from the water. Anything after that should be the freight handlers job, not yours. You're the diver. If the props are on dry land or on the boat's deck. You should be filling out the invoice.
Strap me in, tie me down and roll me a bone, I'm getting on an airplane and I'm flying home...
If the job is unsafe, double your fee and sub it out.:grin

I have owned and run a commercial construction diving company and we have done many things that could be considered unsafe.
We start with an Activity Hazard Analysis to define the dangers and mitigate them. Our divers have done penetration dives in pipelines as far as 1500 feet with proper safety mitigation. We have spent 7 days on an ocean site with decom chambers on board.
If you cannot define and mitigate the safety issues, don't do it!
Oh, we have never injured a diver, although divers have left my job, gone to another assignment and lost their life within a week of leaving my employment.
We have dived in "hot chambers" at FPL nuke plants, and dove in sewage treatment plants. Its all about the planning.
That said, we would not take a job at an outfall from a tuna processing plant in PR due to shark issues and turned that work down!
Its called discretion. Flying en route is not the issue with a max weight aircraft. Its all the runway you will use getting off the ground, as well as making sure you don't exceed CG limits (important for both takeoff AND landing!). Also make sure the tires aren't totally flattened from the weight. As far as the job itself, what exactly are you responsible for. Borderline jobs require A LOT of pre planning, where the dangers are, who does what, all the what ifs, etc. Knowing when to say no is also a very overlooked quality.
Yes knowing when to say no is very important. You have to balance that with the thought that, "if you don't have it on the shelf, no one will buy it". The more services and or products you can offer your customers the more opportunities to feed the family.
I think you have already made the call to pass on the job.
FWIW I think you did the right thing, you can't be doing things right if your scared of something going wrong.
THERE SHOULD BE NO COMMERCIAL FISHING ALLOWED FOR ANY SPECIES THAT IS CONSIDERED OVERFISHED.
