Doug, I like Domenica. It's a John Besh restaurant. If you can get there early enough, sit at the bar & enjoy their happy hour. http://domenicarestaurant.com/
I agreed with a poster who mentioned BBQ shrimp at Pascale Manale, and Seafood at Deanies. I really like Frankie and Johnny's off Tchoupitoulas and **** Browns is the best place in the city to drink and watch football.
And cabs are your friend (just try to ignore the danger), the best of NOLA isn't in the quarter...

river shack for the atmosphere, it's a locals joint
then **** browns tavern for the scenery and good beer
there are plenty good restaurants near cooters that you can walk or take the street car to which is a good way to see new orleans past bourbon street area
disagree with the barbecued shrimp at pascals, found them to be less than expected and over priced
I'm pleased and happy to repeat the news that we have, in fact, caught and killed a large predator that supposedly injured some bathers. But, as you see, it's a beautiful day, the beaches are open and people are having a wonderful time. Amity, as you know, means "friendship".
If you are in the Quarter on Halloween, keep your cheeks clinched. I have never had my butt grabbed so many times in one night. It was not by women either...

Just got back from the NO the other day from the Buffalo game. We go to New Orleans atleast a dozen times a year and we usually don't even hit the Quarter there are tons better places. For food try the Parkway Tavern on Hauge st. The Rum House on Magazine, Mahoney's on Magazine. If you want a true seafood treat hit the Fishermans Warf its in Kenner right of I10 awsome seafood is in the same building as a seafood market so the food is about as fresh as one can get. If you want to take some fresh seafood home hit the fish vendors in Westwego.
As far as the danger factor of New Orleans don't worry to much about it its not the same since katrina most of the city is fairly safe in the daytime, However i wouldn't venture out walking in Hollygrove of the 9th ward.
I said this yesterday, but something seems to have happened to the forum, Aquarium of the Americas! Anyone who claims to be a fisherman or diver must check it out.
If you are stuck in the area, Dragos has great oysters, don't go to Acme. Port o call has good burgers. Like someone said cabs are your friend so get out of the quarter and explore. Bourbon street smells awful.
I will be ther next weekend for a wedding, I anyone else is gonna be there let me know.
Went to Two Sisters ate in the patio, food was good but Jerome the 65 yr old waiter sucked, 3 hours from start to finish
Went to Pascals and loved it, had a great waiter, bartender was also very good. Food was excellent.
Went to some Italian place right by Mannings, Tommy's or something, best meal of the trip and great service.
After show tear down, watched FSU game at Mannings, food was so so but was starving, FSU looked great and it was a great sports bar

Fancy name for glorified flea market funnelcake.

It's a square donut covered with confectioners sugar, and a coffee/chicory and milk.

How much for the drag queen?
