Guy really didn't look that surprised. Was it staged? Have seen Sea lions loitering around fishing boats & in marinas & acting aggressively. Looks very EZ to have set up. Did come close to his hand, but would seem as EZ as feeding a dog.

Yes, was probally set up! We used to feed them old bait all of the time!!

I read where that sea lion is notorious for doing that....probably a set up...but still funny !!

If the Sea lion stealing the Mahi vid was staged it suggests the people involved may have intentionally fed 'Poncho' before.

It's apparently against Federal law to feed marine mammals, especially nuisance marine mammals, particularly in marina where an aggressive Sea lion can be dangerous. Violation can net a $20,000 fine!

Sea lions have grabbed pet dogs off docks & attacked anglers processing fish at docks.

"Looks like that" Federal law against feeding marine mammals was intended to teach anglers & tourists "a lesson or two" about the problems caused when wild animals become conditioned to associate people with free food.
