any difference in the 18-200 VR and the VRll besides a switch to stop lens creep?, seeing mixed reviews with some stating the VRll has better glass?, appreciate any info, andy
lens builders used to always make a point of mentioning a certain piece of glass had rounded blades...
nikon and canon both used it as part of their marketing strategy...
i had a couple of days to play with a nikon d5100 and a nikon 18-200...
it seemed to me the sweet spot was in the middle third of the zoom range...
i think once you get much past 4:1, a zoom becomes to much of a compromise...
it was handy as a "walking around" piece of glass though...

The internet is your friend. Here are side by side specs on the two lenses, from DxO. Apparently, the VRII lens was not different enough or interesting enough to do a full review. The spec's are identical. I guess adding the zoom lock, which would be nice to have wasn't that big a deal to DxO
Using changes from VR ro VRII on their other lenses as a proxy, I would say you will get about 1/2 to possibly 1 stop more of hand hold ability.
With that said, it is a good travel lens, but not one I would own. But that is just me. Tim, got this one right, even as a Canon user! :grin
