I got a buddy well to the north of where I'm at. They have been crushing the giants (release fishery). They have been getting granders in that mix for the last ten days and they just let one go estimated to be 1400 or better!
The great thing about all these threads is that reading them is optional!
So for those who feel the need to express a negative point of view in regards to compleat's posting, why bother? Just read elsewhere.
There are many in this forum who appreciate his postings.
I for one enjoy them. Ive had the pleasure of fishing Cat Cay and Bimini for the last 38 years, in good times and bad.
Paul enjoys the people and the area. Anyone who has tried working and living in the third world can appreciate his experiences. It is not necessary to be in complete agreement with another's point of view to be able to have empathy for his situation.
So, from my personal point of view, press on Paul!
100% true! But, mine comes from experiences with females...You...Not so much I suspect.
Consensus belief is that when someone attacks others about sexuality while trying to reaffirm his own, may be conflicted. A therapist could help you sort out your meesy closet, although she may need two couches untill the real you emerges.
I liked it. greatstyle. Im looking for a rental in Bimini for a week in December if anyone knows of a small cottage for my wife and I give me a buzz. Barrell

Complete, the giants are there! I did see where one of the purse seiners did a set on giants and had to throw back 100 dead discards to take 30 legal fish. Sad!
Weather starting to break but will probably be late week for a long distance run... Solid bite of bonitos in close and the years they are here the giants are not far away. With that in mind maybe a giant run here before the next long one.
Up far north the giant slobs are on fire...
Sun came out ... wind came up. Stuck to the dock again... I guess continue fixing Sandy damage then maybe go poke a deer.
The offshore window has moved closer so a Thus- Fri trip is now in the making.
Gotta say that this trip is doing wonders in getting my head back in shape. Able to look forward and thats a big change from what was...

Big Game has little bungalows and sea crest has a couple suites that might fit the bill. Lot of guys with lots of contact here. Maybe start own thread so they see it and can respond... Surprised no string of answers here yet...
Seriously Paul, you got a lot of play out of the Bahamathon thing, but there are a lot of forums that would be more interested in you Northern adventures than this one.
You better got find a Bluefin before the quota reallocation puts you out of that fishery. You probably have no idea what I am talking about.
Take the suggestions made prior and go write a book!
If you need, I can refer you to a few NE forums who might care about you chasing rat yellowfins off the Carolinas. Tip from those boys, try wahoo and hit the whites if you want epic fishing right now.

Posts like yours, jackleg, are thoroughly un-welcomed on this particular section. I suggest you get yer carpetbaggin' *** and your stupid unfunny comments outta here.
FYI, it hasn't yet been decided whether a ban in Jersey gets a either a purple heart or a medal of honor.

Good on ya, Paul.
I must admit that is pretty funny. Bigeye tuna and white marlin fishing has been off the hook. Boat fishing the Norfolk a week or two ago released 49 whites in a day. Not bad for a bunch of Yankees.
Yes many of these guys know I was booted from the barn and why I was. Since you brought it up... Wanna recap? How I got out of the charter business six years ago and how your buddy Ron who owns the site tried to squeeze me for continued advertising when I had gone private boat? How he got pissed when I went public with it? And thats why he banned me? Cause I went public with it? I'm sure he appreciates you bringing that back into public view...
Anyway... I'm back in the charter game. Had an ok time in the Bahamas til the rules changed and more permits were demanded. So came back stateside one Viking and the Albemarle being run in Florida. Up in Jersey the other Viking, a Luhrs and a Contender. Nope won't be advertising with Ron. Too bad for both of us...
Just got in from a two day shot to the Hudson and we spanked em... Spanked em real good... Even added a nice sword to top the collection for good measure... Story will have to follow cause I'm hungry and tried right now.

Better watch out, better not shout.....we will be down looking for properties in the spring.
I enjoy reading all this stuff so keep it coming Paul, if others don't like it don't read it...
I agree 110%. But some people are just compulsive s***stirers........ most likely because they have a miserable life and don't want anyone else to have any fun.....
In a big step to shake the last cobwebs of the Bimini thing out of my dome we decided to do our "kitchen sink " run. Throw everything we got at em approach...
Nauti Buoy is one of the boats I run up here. She's a classic old 41 Viking with a lot of personality, battle scars and fresh 465 Yanmars that push her along at a comfortable 24 kts while sipping fuel. We slipped out early Thursday and started scouting for giants. What bait we found was being worked by bonitos and what we call bonitos (Little tunny). Signs of real tuna just not there so we thundered off toward the Hudson.
As we hit radio range we got word of a strong morning bite on the longfins with a stray yellowfin and couple big eyes that had now died off as we were nearing mid day. We set down on the west elbo a couple miles short of where the satellites had said the water would be. A dozen of our favorite toys clogged our wash. We hit the break and the prettiest blue water I ever saw in the Hudson slid under us. No life though and a touch cold. A half hour in we had a white train wreck a few baits without finding steel...
We carried on that west side with no more love and crossed to the east side. Each ball had small dolphin on them and we picked a stray here and there. We continued along then found life. Tons of it. Dozens of big whales, hundreds of bottle nose and white sides, pilots, and porpoise. No fish though. We dragged and dragged and I looked over to see the screen go red with bait, 300 feet down. I marked the area. We dragged hard and pounded all kinds of great looking water with no action for hours. Then at six o'clock we had a big eye blast a spreader. Problem was it picked the squids that didn't have a hook in it...
Sundown came and I circled back to where we marked the bait. It was moving and I set in front of where it was heading to drop our gear and 1/4 mile of anchor line. Morale was pretty low with only pee wee dolphin for our efforts to this point. 7:30 became 8:30 and that be came 9:30 without a touch. We got a mark on the machine and sent our big squid down to that depth. "Tap, tap, bang!" Game on. Fair fish, not a slob but at least we had something to work on. Art was on the stick, Colin would gaff and I would be the leader man. Wind on cleared the tip, angler backed up, I pulled and Colin laid the steel in the dome. Let go of leader, grab bill and deposit a fair sword on the deck. Colin tames the bill, I sit on the other end. We never even woke up Al, the boats owner.
10:30 came and went then at 11:30 a deep sardine is off to the races. Frank cranks and soon we have a nice 60 class yft bleeding all over the pit. At that point we were tickled. Little did we know that would be the smallest fish all night! It gets quiet again. Al gets up around 12:30. He starts moaning about not a bite (He slept through the last couple fish). "Hey Al, did you see what that little dolphin barfed up?" We unzipped the bag to show the sword and tuna in there. Al grows a big smile. Wham! The flat goes off. Al grabs it and game on this time decking a slob yft pushing a hundred pounds. Before it hit the bag we added a couple 70-80 class fish. It was starting to churn.
The bite wasn't on fire but it was steady and big fish. Colin working a light jig rod with a chunk bows up on one. I was tickled when that fish hit the lights...Biggest yellow fin I have seen in years (about 110) circled in and I brain shot it with the aftco. Need a second hook in the nose to get that one over the gunwale.
By sunrise we couldn't stuff another one in any of our coolers or holds. We lifted the hook and put her back on the troll hoping to add some longfins. Didn't happen. Got to my tile numbers. Couple drifts had enough so everybody would get a bag of that to go with the rest of what we had...
Home run? Close enough. Heading back to Barnegat not wanting another fish signaled that our objective had been met... Friends and neighbors all have fish. I got all smokin hot missus and I can plan to eat. For me the last cobwebs were now gone. My whole reason for coming north has paid off...
I would love for one of the Jersey bashers to tell me what part of Florida can produce a catch like that?
Considering the run you need to get to the Hudson, how about Destin/panhandle area? Canaveral? Ft Pierce? Key West? Plus add cobalt blue water all the time, billfish of all types, no freezing temps, no state income tax and best of all not nearly as many of you Yankees although we certainly seem to attract our share:wink
Your right, can't imagine leaving Jersey for Fl:grin
Now now boys... Lets get along here... I fish both places and they both have their special charms... More tuna and billfish up Jersey way but a short season... More sailfish and dolphin taste better down in Florida. Jersey has clams, Bimini has conch. One has Springsteen and the other has Buffet. You both got me!

Snooky... You need to expand your horizons some. I mean we have people run fifty miles from Miami to Bimini to go catch yellow tails or yellow eyes that they have in their back yard. How much of a run is it from Miami to the channel in hopes that you may or may not find a couple mid class yft? Kind of the same in Jersey except the odds are in your favor that you will load the boat. White and Blue marlin in season up north are thicker than anywhere in the islands. No customs fees, fuel is half the price. I'm Florida and islands as well but I keep an open mind and fish is fish...

Yup. One guy had a 325 bigeye, 3 more in the mid 200's and a 200 swordie to cap it off.
Ray... You qualify as a Yankee as you are now north of Ft. Pierce...
Yesterday I played the tuna bunny game. Distributing a mountain of it. Word got out and I wound up chumming in a bunch of old girlfriends to come get some... Sure some went and turned into sand sows but a couple still got what it takes and one is still a hottie.
Slung plugs in the suds last night and this morn. Hoping to punch out a bass but a lone bluefish let me know I'm tween seasons at least from the beach. My crews are all grown up now and don't need me in their way for whats left of the season offshore and inshore. They all got game and I'm gonna pull out of here to give them their space probably tomorrow.
Gotta get back and tend to the Viking, Albemarle and the tournament...

PS: Yes I have pics... They'll be up in a while.
Had to keep a sharp eye out to keep from hitting whales all day. They were the big fin backs and I never saw as many as I did that day.
First fish of the night...
The biggest yft I took...
Colin holds up his stud class slab of sushi...
Obscene stack of meat... Those are 25 pound bags of ice and the 2.5 gallon Hefty bags of meat (gallons were not gonna cut it).
