As the we get used to ATM's and self check out these workes will be replaced by kiosk's. Do you really need to tell someone that you want on #2 and a small drink (which you fill yourself)??

There are several credit cards using NFC (near field communications) that once integrated, will allow you to walk up to the kioks (which will keep track of your previous orders) enter your PIN and select your order and bingo--- lunch is served. There is also a pilot going on with a large cell phone carrier and a tier one fast food company where you can down load the fast food APP and find the closest restaurant, order your food and have it ready at the drive through -- all billed via your cell phone.

    Well of course you would.

Employers are viewing mediocre and poor employees as a liability and not an asset.

If they don't like the pay at the fast food joints why don't they just take their skill set somewhere that has a better compensation package? :huh

Please explain this to me Mister-Jr.

They are worth as much as they can get. Why is everyone upset about workers striking for more wages? It is part of the system. If it works, good for them. As long as the government is not part of it, they have the right.

Agreed. Plus welfare is the fallback plan.

If they start talking like intelligent people and start presenting themselves like contributing members of society, then $10/hr sounds fair.

Pay the workers $15/hr and it will be quick. Hell, the automation companies are probably encouraging the strikes.

Let me tell you about the Mc D's girl in GA that after ordering a Chocolate shake...and I got a Vanila.
When I went back inside AND SHOWED HER THE WHITE SHAKE her answer was " Well,.... It came out of the chocolate side sir"...
To which I replied " Yes, but it is white...like me...and TASTES LIKE vanilla"
To which she repeated " But..it came out of the chocolate side"

This happened 12 years ago while my youngest daughter was in college...and to this day when something is just so stupid as to be unbelievable...We say..
" But it came out of the chocolate side sir"

Anecdotal stories are the best way to judge how much Mickey's D's employees should make. I commend you, sir.

You can't set wages based on inflation, they're set by p&l

Didn't call you names. I just suggested that you read the post prior to injecting "feelings" into your responses

So people actually believe that McDonald's is just sitting around waiting for the cost of human labor to get too high so they can justify the capital investment of fully automating their stores with robots?

No they aren't, They are set by government regulations as to a minimum and then market conditions for the local job market.

I wonder why the union people haven't gotten involved in this. Quite an army of fast food workers in this country.

On the news, the showed a coloured woman complaining about her wages at MickyD's. She said she has a family of 7 that depends on her wage. WHAT? SEVEN?

I'm 54, I have 1 kid, who graduated from college, with ZERO debt. I don't think I could've done that had I had 6 more kids...

I hope MickyD's fires every single one of them, and gives a raise to those that didn't strike..

Huh? The union is the one who organized the strike. Most of the people in the video are union hacks not rreal workers.

We aren't supposed to talk about the REAL social problem here. Think she has a cell phone? Think the kids have an xbox? Think the kids have cell phones?
