Bait, fresh water, fishing out of Port Charlotte?

Taking a group of teenage girls, friends of my daughters, to boat and fish the harbor this week end. With all the fresh water, where is my best bet for white bait or such? How far south do I need to travel for clearer water? Or is the whole harbor like coke in color? Thanks for any and all info to help get bait. I typically get bait easy at marker two, but looking for back up plan if no luck there.

Go to Placida... clearer water and there's bait everywhere... especially if you start heading towards Lemon Bay.
Tarpon... everything else is just bait.

The harbor is like coffee all the way to Boca Grande and then it lightens up a bit. Not very pretty, even at Placida, Boca. But as mentioned earlier there is plenty of bait out on the flats outside the Placida boat ramp, and the fishing is pretty decent out there too.
