We finally had a break with the weather and the Git-R-Dunn crew hit the water Saturday for a hardcore trip. Crew was Myself,Dave,Chris,Joaquin, and Zandra. Having had gloom and doom days almost every trip prior,I was eager to finally have some good weather. We got up at 4am and loaded up dive gear and fishing gear and headed out to homestead. I picked up Dave and Zandra along the way and made it to the dock by 7ish. I made the decision to bypass catching live bait, having great weather I figured the waters might get crowded and some of our lobster spots might get hit. So out we went and hit our first spot. Nobody home. Our second spot started producing, with Dave hitting them pretty hard. He was on a mission and caught 2 beauties. I had a few in the bag when Joaquin tapped me on the shoulder. After deciphering underwater sign language, I understood that a big red grouper just went into a cave off to my right. After taking a peek, the fish showed himself and I made the shot. The thing went ballistic. I followed the line but couldnt find the shaft. Crap....I started to worry. I had to peel some of my carry-on luggage off so I can get further into the cave. My arm, shoulder were buried deep, but I found the shaft and pulled the grouper out.
We all enjoyed the dive, until the moon jellyfish started coming in full force. With that said,we fell 5 short of our limit, but not before I plucked the monster right from under the boat. By far my biggest lobster. We stowed the dive gear and headed for the fishing grounds. By this time it was only 5pm and we could fit some fishing in. We were tired, but the fishing picked up and we stayed. I managed to sabiki one pilchy which.....from the kindness of my heart....gave it to Dave. Ten minutes later he pulled in a nice Mango. We called it a day at 11pm with 25 snapper, grouper, hogs, and 25 lobster.
Here are the pictures.....enjoy
