8/25 - slow fishing - abandoned Cuban raft?

Left the dock at 6:00am this morning. We caught pinfish and herring and headed out of government cut with high hopes. Although I had to be back by 11:00 so our time was limited.

Got zero bites. There was no current at all at our usual bottom fishing spots. Trolled offshore with nothing to show for it.

Finally, about 6 miles offshore, we spotted an object and ran over to see what it was. Looks like an abandoned raft. Crazy to think that there were people on there at some point in the middle of the ocean. I hope that whoever was on that is now safe somewhere. It was very eerie to see this so far out there.

We spent about 30 minutes fishing around the raft. There were thousands of tiny baitfish (jacks) that were very easy to catch on the sabikis. We tried sending out all different live baits and I had a good work out sending the vertical jig up and down around this thing but there were no fish to be found.

Anyway, thought I would share the pic with you all.
