Cheddars is a decent place that's priced reasonably. I first ate at one in Austin, TX a few years ago. Found out there's one in Warner Robbins, GA, and have eaten there on my way to western NC. Full bar to go with the good food and they always have big cichlid tank mounted in the wall.

Mom and pop that arent consistent probably won't be open very long.

This is the single biggest problem I've seen in Sanford over the last 15 years

I'll eagerly stand by and await your recommendation on some "good restaurants" in Sanford.

How are those recommendations coming along Salty? :grin

--- I hate 90% of chain restaurants and there are very few and far between DECENT places to eat around here. Longhorn SUX (as per my previous thread about them (specifically). Red Robin - I've only ate at twice in my life and both times was a good experience. Cheddars I had never heard of - but only 2 people said if was good / compared to about 10 people who have told me it was horrible service and mediocre food. I have yet to go to any Buffalo Wild Wings and be impressed with food or service - so my expectations are low for them. However I probably will still go there to watch a few playoff games on the big screen and drink a beer once football season gets here.

That being said, aside from the Willow Tree, Fishbones, Liam Fitpatricks, and small handful of others - it's not like Sanford has hardly any restaurants worth a ****. So spare me the "corporate ****" - I don't care if its chain or not, as long as they have good service and good food - consistently. Pretty much NONE of the chain restaurants in the area can achieve that challenge due to the workforce in Sanford. Only locally owned restaurants where the owner (ie. Theo @ Willow Tree) is still directly involved seems to come close to "consistent good" delivery of service and food.

And while I do agree the presentation wasn't great on the Carrabba's dish, the sirloin was great and the service was great. Sadly we know (based on 15 years in the area), that it will most likely decline by the 3 month mark. Until then, I'll eat there and keep giving them corporate ****'s -- in return for a great sirloin and a pretty decent glass of house cab.

try eating at the breezeway in dt sanford... owner is from Sanford and a really good dude..

Yeah, because the chains fly in their cooks, bartenders, waitresses, hostesses, dishwashers every day. :rolleyes

I eat out alot, but mostly mom and pops family owned. I try to stay away from corp owned places.....one place I eat the heck out of is T-flats.... I started eating there when it first opened on university drive, the original, with this young kid as owner...Mr BW.....my wife, son and I were like customer number 20/25 into his little hole in the wall......still a huge fan, still eat there as often as possible even now that it went big time.
Mr. BW new eatery is Tibby's....one on aloma and a new one on 436......great food, great people, they care, they give a hoot if you have an issue....
My son, Jake turned 21 on the 27th of July. We told him that he could go anywhere he wanted for his first drink and dinner.....Tibby's.....Winter Park, Fl....they even gave him his first on the house......class act.....
For the love of all outdoors recreational activities....what my spelling is off, that will learn ya. Pimping ain't easy unless u went to FSU, its a BS course.
What do u get when you can connect the dots, color inside the lines, and get your release papers.....sentence served, times up at Felon sentenced university.
    Floridas first woman's college.
The only difference between FSU and all the other colleges are other colleges accept you into the university's. At FSU you are taken into custody.

You do realize a number of the chains are owned by local franchisees, right? And the staff in chain restaurants also pay property taxes, sales taxes and keep others employed by their own spending.
That being said, I generally avoid chains, but as in the OPs case, there just aren't many good options, I don't see any problem with dining there.

In the context of what I said, it should be. Given the mentality of some around here, I doubt it is. :grin

Nope, I'm not, frank is trying to create something that isn't there. Kind of like the Zimmerman thread. :grin

You beat me to it...Mitch is right on all counts here
I live in Atlanta and am guilty of frequenting too many chains..But the mellow mushroom a mile away, and the longhorn (prime rib is all I get) a.5 miles is tough to pass up!
However when I am home in Sarasota, Its Old Packinghouse every time! Anyone in Sarasota area that hasn't been there, you need to go! Get country fried chicken with white gravy, don't forget the beef nachos for an appetizer and some very cold draft beer
