DINNER - Wednesday night

I typically avoid sirloin because they are so **** hit or miss whenever I go to a restaurant. I almost always order a filet instead. Well 2 nights ago a new Carrabba's opened across the street from the Sanford mall. Also found out they are opening a Buffalo Wild Wings and Red Robin there in the next few weeks as well. So I checked out Carrabba's and much to my surprise it was excellent. The sirloin was the best one I've ever had from any restaurant. Also, I sat at the bar and the service was excellent as well. Good to see Sanford finally getting some decent restaurants. They already opened one called Cheddars which has gotten mediocre reviews and Longhorn is opening on the 12th.

Everything I ever get from Carrabbas is good. I could go there just to have the bread and chicken soup

Just remember, your 2nd Amendment rights are not welcome at BWW.

And I'm with Mango, presentation needs a lot of work.

Sit at the little bar right in front of the cooks and hand them a $10 right when you sit down. They will hook you up with all kinds of stuff.

I ate at that Cheddars last week, very good and extremely reasonable $$, the Carrabbas wasn't open then

Look here azzhat... I've lived in this area since 98'

--- I hate 90% of chain restaurants and there are very few and far between DECENT places to eat around here. Longhorn SUX (as per my previous thread about them (specifically). Red Robin - I've only ate at twice in my life and both times was a good experience. Cheddars I had never heard of - but only 2 people said if was good / compared to about 10 people who have told me it was horrible service and mediocre food. I have yet to go to any Buffalo Wild Wings and be impressed with food or service - so my expectations are low for them. However I probably will still go there to watch a few playoff games on the big screen and drink a beer once football season gets here.

That being said, aside from the Willow Tree, Fishbones, Liam Fitpatricks, and small handful of others - it's not like Sanford has hardly any restaurants worth a ****. So spare me the "corporate ****" - I don't care if its chain or not, as long as they have good service and good food - consistently. Pretty much NONE of the chain restaurants in the area can achieve that challenge due to the workforce in Sanford. Only locally owned restaurants where the owner (ie. Theo @ Willow Tree) is still directly involved seems to come close to "consistent good" delivery of service and food.

And while I do agree the presentation wasn't great on the Carrabba's dish, the sirloin was great and the service was great. Sadly we know (based on 15 years in the area), that it will most likely decline by the 3 month mark. Until then, I'll eat there and keep giving them corporate ****'s -- in return for a great sirloin and a pretty decent glass of house cab.

That is what you consider good restaurants in Sanford? You may need to get out of the area a little more.

Pretty sure the topic was restaurants in Sanford.

I'll eagerly stand by and await your recommendation on some "good restaurants" in Sanford.

Carabbas siloin marsala has always been good when I go.

One of the reasons chain restaurants succeed is because 'mom and pop' can't consistently replicate an entree. If I want to play 'restaurant roulette' then I just accept the fact I may not get a good meal. At least when I go to Red Lobster, I know what I'm going to get.

If you want the best shrimp you'll ever eat just dip some up from the estuary, before they get into the salty Gulf or Atlantic. Joey, don't tell me you've not done this many times.

Many, many times at the placida tressel before I had a boat.

But when I go to Red Lobster for Shrimp Fest, they cook them many different ways for me and I eat 200-300.

Carraba's marsala sauce = yum. Haven't been there in forever, but heard it was open over there. This Chedders place sounds good.

I cooked up some GA deer in the spaghetti pot last night....spinach salad on the side and a glass of merlot to get wifey in mood. :grin
God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy
