Bad day fishing better than good day at work?

I have the week off so of course I have to fish. Went up near the St Lucie power plant presunrise in hopes of throwing a top water and getting that monster explosion . The dead grass that is floating is pretty thick and it's hard not to get weed in your trebles every cast. Well the weather was beautiful, the fishing not so much. Managed a few small trout, lady's, jack, and some decent size bluefish. (bluefish in July :huh). Fished everything from 2'-9'. The water was a coffee brown and the living grass has a brown algae growing on it.(Thx SFWM).:banghead. On my way back to the launch site, I had an escort of a few dolphin. They seemed to stay close all the way to shore where they then started to explode on the mullet. Sad to say but that was the highlight of the day. But if you ask me, " Is a bad day fishing better than good day at work" I will respond with " You better believe it " !!

Eric, sounds like a plan. I'm launching the boat with a friend tomorrow, hoping for a good bite.:crossed. Did you do any good today?

Rick, it's pretty clean water down here at about 80-85ft depending on the tides/wind... Take a day or two and work it down here...... I'd go out with you, but I have meetings, and then my brother and his family coming in town on Thursday...

Offshore has been slow too so not worries. Spend 4 days of my vacation trying to avoid the crap water and still couldn't find good fishing. Nice pics tho!

Fished out of the boat today around the SLI only Jacks all day. There is a strong green algae bloom going on right now !! The sand bars at low tide had lots of green algae all on them and it was also free floating around.:banghead. Really makes me not really wanna fish the river anymore !!

oh i went a few miles offshore, i refuse to fish near or inside the SLI. been catching limits of snapper, few grouper, and BIG cobia. even 3-6-8 miles offshore water is brown/green. get out and away while you can!
