581 i not reading depth

Bought a 581i this spring and it worked great at first,
now I am having a problem with the sounder.
Reads 1 ft almost all of the time(especially in less than 10 ft).Have tried making adjustments on almost everything.
anyone have any ideas b4 I send it back in?

I would look for nicks on the transducer cable. Also check your connections. You may want to send it back in and let them check it out.
