Honeymoon Recommendations?

JC_UF_ITKJC_UF_ITK Posts: 496 Deckhand
Well I ended it all and got engaged last month. I wanted to know if anyone had any honeymoon recommendations? We would like to go somewhere warm (Caribbean, etc) with the ability to fish, check out the local attractions, and relax. Any first-hand suggestions for places to go? Thanks in advance for any help.

Honeymoon? Hell, all I did during my honeymoon was consumate my marriage.

Find the tallest hotel nearby with a honeymoon suite. Once in the room, lock the doors, because its all downhill from there on....

Thanks for the input all. I finally ran out of excuses (had to refi house, had to buy a boat, etc) and decided it was time to take the plunge. The great part is that she likes to fish and enjoys being out on the boat. Heck, she even helped me wax the boat yesterday!

B.V.I. Fly into Tortola, rent a boat there and sail/boat the Francis Drake Channel, cross to Peter Island, then stop in Virgen Gorda, and steam into Anegada. 5-6 nights.

Keep this in mind......80% of wedding and honeymoons are still being paid for after married 10+ yrs . I married a poor girl and our honeymoon was paid for in full 2 weeks after the wedding. Working on 20 yrs now. Yes, we're still poor but she lubs me!!

If you really want to go to a nice place go here. http://www.tropicstar.com/accommodations.html

I agree that starting a relationship with debt like that is a recipe for disaster. So I vote somewhere cheap and tropical. Isn't Costa Rica affordable?

    Both in Costa Rica

My wife and I went to both of these places for our honeymoon 2 years ago. The first place was more of an "eco-lodge". Solar powered lights and hot water. Spectacular views from our balcony right on the edge of a cliff down to the ocean. This area is the southern-most tip of the country. The food is amazing. We walked all over the jungle and saw many types of wildlife. We rode horses on the beach. We walked a beach for miles and did not see anyone or any footprints.
The owner is a surfer from California who slowly grew the place over the years.

The second place we went was a much more modern facility. There was A/C and T/V. Also heated pool with swim up bar. We went ziplining and white water rafting there as well.

Costa Rica was an overall amazing country. My wife and I like nature and hiking etc.. So, this country had a lot to offer. PM me if you want any more details.

Good luck. Being married is more amazing than I thought it could be.

We did Sandals in Montego Bay, Jamaica. In the resort it was somewhat "touristy" but I have zero complaints about the whole thing. It was actually very reasonable priced and everything was included-food, alcohol, plane ticket, etc...

We paid to do some stuff out of the resort but that was optional. If you like to eat good food, drink beer, relax, do honeymoon things and see some cool sights its perfect.

One of the most beautiful places in the world. Take a day at Brewers Bay. And a day at the Baths.

We rented a cabin on Lubber's Quarters - came with a whaler. Great time. Still going 20+ later!

Ocho Rios the Grand hotel Jamaica all inclusive out of this world, awesome night life, great food, water falls climbing, offshore fishing, non stop diving and snorkeling and all cheap.
