Fort Pierce 6/28 & 6/30

Did some more snapper fishing this past friday night with Fishhuntr. We met at the ramp at 5:30 to some dismal conditions, the radar was lit up like the 4th of July, and the wind was cranking. We killed sometime netting chummies, and I realized I forgot my rain gear. So with the weather pounding the direction we were heading I decided to head back to the truck hoping the coat was in there. While on the way back we got pulled for a random safety check by FWC, burned up 5 minutes, and we were back on our way. Got back to the truck and it's official my rain gear is now mia ...oh well I've been wet before. Left the ramp again and there was a broken down Bluewater just out of the slow speed zone. I vowed to myself when I got my first boat that I would never leave someone stranded. So after a quick tow back to the ramp we were on our way...for the third time. Popped out the inlet and the conditions were perfect, a light nnw wind off the back side of the storm, and about 1' seas.

We were anchored up in no time, dropped the chum bag, and started to cut up the bait supply. The current was trickling to the north and the pinfish showed up like a swarm of bees behind the boat. Then just as predicted the wind shifted to the south and swung us about 60' away from were I wanted to be. The bottom still looked really good so I decided not to reset the anchor. As the sun crept down to the horizon we started to catch some fish. First few fish were legal but we threw them back hoping to get some bigger ones after dark. The bite was not a fast as it was the the past two trips, but slow and steady won the race. Right around 11 we hit our limit of mangos. We stuck around for a little longer to see if we would get any muttons, but it didn't happen. We didn't have as many big fish as the past two trips, but they were decent, the smallest went around 14".

Today I had a half day inshore with Bert and Pete. We ended up with one decent trout, and a few small snapper. Not a stellar day by any means, but we tried like hell. I don't have many days where I wish I would have stayed in bed, but this was on of them.
