Me and my dad decided to go out on a whim yesterday at noon as I heard the reports of bft. So we cleared the inlet at about 1:00 and I just got some new dolphin and tuna lures from ballyhood I wanted to try out. Put a 4 line spread out of a dolphin slammer daisy chain, regular dolphin slammer, top gun Tuna lure, and the trusty ol yo zuri Bonita incase we get a lucky wahoo. Trolled from 200-400 in and out for an a couple hours with nothing then I decide to troll from 100-250, good idea! The bite turned on fast the daisy chain was getting knocked down every 5 min no joke we caught 4 decent bft in 30 mins in scattered weed in 110-150 off the Juno pier . Mean while we see the huge storm lingering off the coast not thinking much of it cuz we got into good fishing. Just as we find we really good fishy area with lots of weeds in 300 we look back and see the storm had charged towards us off the coast and this thing was huge, it went from pa beach past jupiter. So I say ok let's go in... Well we get about a mile off the inlet and temp drops rapidly and lightning and squall in front of my face , I seriously was scared . Neither of us knew which way to go or what the best plan was because the storm was along the whole coast and I didn't want to run back out deep to try and avoid it and get caught, so I ran towards the beach incase something happened I could swim for shore right? Haha, so we see it opening to the south and ran for it with a nasty lighting storm on our *** made it to the palm beach inlet safe and traveled up north back to tequesta . Very nerve racking I almost thought we were gonna die. Did see some other boats caught in it hope everyone was ok! Sorry for no pics I was freaking out.
