Tarpon near Bradenton

Never fished for Tarpon and ready to give it a try. I've heard many talk about going outside on the beach to pitch an artie or crab at passing tarpon...is this the preferred method or should I start with a different approach? I live up the Manatee river making it a long trip by boat to AMI...are the bridges in the Manatee productive for Tarpon or would I be wasting time?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Yes the Green bridge or Desoto bridge hold tarpon.. Just east of the Desoto on the south side there is a hole you can't miss it with your bottom finder. Give that a shot and
you don't have to run to the skyway or Egmont.
