SLI 6-28-13, 2 Cobia & 1 Mahi, Beatiful Day

We had light winds, calm seas, and great company on the ocean yesterday. My wife and went headed out early with our nephew and his girl from the Tampa area. We found a nice weed line in 120' and got a small, but keeper, dolphin before we even got the whole spread set up. This was followed by several bonita who were being eaten by a frolicking bunch of pesky porpoise. Twice we thought we had on something great till they finished his breakfast and left us with a large bonita head. We figured it would be too painful to watch a nice dolphin be eaten, so we headed out to troll the hill with no takers. Next we ran back in to the Loran Ledge for some bottom action. Soon as the anchor grabbed my wife spotted cobia and amberjack playing in the boat's shadow. She quickly threw out a livey and the first cobia was on. The second one was a little harder to catch as the AJ's were getting to the bait quicker than the cobia. With a little selective casting and guiding the bait from the hungry AJ's, we finally got the 2nd cobia on. They both were just above 33", and tasted great. I've included my favorite Cobia recipe. It's good with most fish.
