Capsized boat out of Cedar Key yesterday (6/25)?? Pics

A buddy of mine was fishing about 10 miles out yesterday with some friends roughly between CK and Waccassa when they came across an overturned boat. He said that the hull looked to be in good shape with no visible flaws other than some of the paint missing along the bottom and it appeared to be a formula 17. The boat had an inboard outboard and the anchor rode was coming off the front that looked to be a fresh rope. They called the numbers in to the coast guard and apparently they had known about it for 4 days?? That was the only info they were given. Seems pretty creepy to me! Anybody have any info on this or ideas on why it may have been there?

You sure it wasn't the boat that sank off HSB a week or so ago? When we lost a boat out of Suwannee it showed up three weeks later in spring warrior.

Newbie here, I'll weigh in on this. Apparently there was a rescue about 12 miles off of Crystal River of some people taking on water in their boat this past Friday evening.
Everyone was okay but I was told it was their responsibility to get their boat out of the water, I guess they have not done that.

I was in that area yesterday afternoon, but didn't run across it. The hull looks like one abandoned on the wac last year.

I think the boat that was capsized in Horseshoe was recovered by Seatow and the following Monday a boat out of Cedar Key was reported to have been taking on water and 5 people were rescued from it but I'm not sure how big the boat was and how far offshore it was.

Yes capsized boats are the responsibility of the owners. Otherwise, USCG will cite them for EP issues...

There was a show on tv called salvagers or something that took place in the keys and south florida. If you bring in a boat from the water you can charge whatever you want for the owner to get it back and if they for want to pay it then its yours. I'm pretty sure that's the way they said the laws are on that subject
