I think this was a smart move to announce at the last minute. Sort of a "soft" start to the season and not enough notice for the out of towners to make plans.

I mean lets do opening day of scallops, a poker run, and fireworks all in one day. Toss in a few drunks and people playing rental boat bumper cars and we will have a party.

X2...x3 I guess...as I'm agreeing with both of them. I know it's important for the local economy but maybe once in awhile we should consider the impact before making rash decisions. They already extended it two weeks at the end so I'm sure no one is considering any impact on the scallops. But what's new when it comes to making seasons on any of our fishery.

MY WORST FEAR......THAT WHEN I DIE MY WIFE WILL SELL ALL MY BOATS & FISHING GEAR FOR WHAT I TOLD HER I PAID FOR IT.......
I may not always agree with what you say,
but I will always respect your right to be wrong!
Not sure, but that's what it feels like.
The top one is at the boat ramp here in Homosassa, and the second one is about half way down the river at marker G43.
