What's Up Gang... Not sure if any of you fished the tournament this weekend or what the actual results were but this is most definitely the biggest trout I've caught. Our day started kind of slow after getting skunked down in the tiger shoals area of mosquito lagoon so we headed to the clinkers but couldn't spot any fish. After a while my buddy decided to try out one the the oyster bars on the way back to the launch and boom :hairraiser it was off to the races:fishing!!! We landed two slot reds (19-24 inches) and a couple of trout over 21 inches but this was the whopper @ 29 inches & 9 lbs.
Fish now and die later, until then... Tight lines:fishing

I agree...trout get a bad rap from the little ones who are not the strongest fighters...a big girl is a fast runner with a powerful tail. And while they don't really "jump"...a big girl will stick her head out of the water and shake it like crazy.

generally they wont jump.. but a couple years ago i hooked a monster trout north of pineda, well over 30".. as soon as i put the hooks to it, it was instantly airborne and tailwalking.. jumped 3 times in succession after that and snapped the leader clean in two... i still distinctly remember that.. monster speck..
PS...I have had a couple jump...but it's pretty uncommon.
