The Mowhawk

Has anyone been out there yet? I was looking at my GPS and it looks like it is right next to the Pegasus wreck.
Thought it might be a spot that will hold a few pelagics until the water gets too hot.

Saw it on in this months Florida Sportsman. Wrote down the coords will probably hit soon. I'd imagine its loaded with grouper and big snapper. I think its 70 feet deep right? Come gag season I would think it will become a hotspot. Probably has some big AJ's on it as well.

The distance between the Mohawk and Pegasus is a few hundred feet. Goliath's and other species have been on it maybe a week after it was put down. Every trip I have been up that way I have seen at least one boat sitting on it. Lots of divers usually, have even heard of some yellowtail swimming around it. AJ season closes on June 1st, right as the big red Snapper open up.

Fins: Not to derail, but I remember passing you coming back in about a month or so ago from offshore. It's a beautiful boat!

Thank you captain. Where were we at? I can't seem to remember I have seen a couple nice contenders lately.

Edit: were you possibly anchored at the wiggins 5 mile reef? I think I remember seeing a blue contender there.

26 33 075 82 43 481 Wouldn't waste my time fishing it. The place is a parking lot for boats and divers. Run a few miles past the wreck and start looking for live bottom, you'll catch more fish.

Right off of Sanibel, close to the lighthouse was when I passed you. Our's is bright seafoam in color. Wiggins is too close to shore for me!

Ill agree with Thepigskincapt, run past there as that entire area has good bottom. Look for some seafans coming up 2-3 feet and you will catch some red grouper around there.
