2013 Florida Sportsman Bash and Tournament Recap DOLLARS ARE IN $$$

update:

The numbers are in... Drum roll please...

Thanks to all of you, we were able to raise over $10,700 (net) for little Dylan.

This blows away any number I imagined from the beginning and I am so proud to be amongst you all. Whether you're a sponsor, registered angler, raffle ticket holder or volunteer, you helped contribute to this great cause... thank YOU!
___________________________________

I want to start off by thanking the volunteers, the sponsors and the members (249 anglers) for this awesome bash. It was my first one, which probably ended up making the volunteers work a little harder than necessary. At the end of the day, we were able to come together and make it a success :dance. Enjoy the pictures and captions (pics are limited to what I had on my phone). Kinda gotta keep this short, in between family day.

Captain's meeting, day 1:

Lyla's friend Dylan shows up at my house to help load the 200 buckets:

Loading prizes onto the "runners." Next stop, River Palm Cottages:

This is Diana Mathews, she's a superstar and treasurer on the committee:

Venue set up for the Captain's meeting:

Dylan separating the full buckets from the incomplete buckets, hard work earns a snack:

Your lookin at 200 buckets filled with goodies:

Thought I would keep you all engaged with the goodie filler

Got the kegs, what kind of party is this again :nono:

Just had to return something at Toys R Us..

Blair kicking off the Captain's meeting:

Darrell (familythyme) the tournament director going over the rules:

Nice turnout for the Captain's meeting:

Tournament day, day 2:

No one showed up to register Saturday morning, but this view made it worth it!!:

Actually, I had one customer bright and early, but all he wanted was breakfast:

We got to chat with George Godz and checkout the 24 YF for a minute before he went to pick up his charter:

Mr. Parrot Shine (Tom aka MT Pockets), and also a sponsor of the bash showing me the parrot shine magic!!:

This took way more time than it should have, someone was super OCD today:

Dylan reading the water for the big one :fishing:

Mike (Sene) says to me "we're going on a boat ride to shoot some pictures on the water," I said "no way, too much work to do." Then he said "look who's coming" and I said "what are we waiting for?!?" :crossed:

Boat went from zero to hero in a hurry:

Only one confirmed angler fishing our tournament during the 45min cruise, John Alki aboard the "Christine Marie:"

Headed back to see Dave ("Keylime") docking up getting ready to save a lady? Dave, tell us the story... :Sinking:

Ran out to get 3 more fresh kegs for day 2:

Charlie's angels on the tap:

The kids selling "Bash Babes" tank tops out of the truck, no, they don't have a business license :rotflmao:

I got to witness the first weigh in before it got really busy, I believe this is also our dolphin category winner:

Enjoying the bash and weather:

Was happy to see Vi and Lyla made it out and had a good time:

Final score board. Darrell (familythyme) and his tournament committe did an awesome job, everything was silky smooth:

This 30lb wahoo caught by Derek showed up 30 min late :fishing:willynilly:driver::shrug:nono:

Erica and Dylan showing off their moves

Our 50/50 raffle winner donated all $561 back to the family. That's what this is all about folks. Some good, good people out there. Of course Dylan is going to count it, that's just what he has to do... :grin

All there, so he'll look up for a pic now :wink

Me and my everything

Someone walked up and wanted to take a picture with us... it's cool I guess, but don't go accusing me for that belly... :rotflmao:

Mom and auntie even showed up to support the cause. They paid $700 for this pair of Penn combos donated by the generous, gourmet-food-eating-while-fishing Team Plane Fish N, who made the impromptu live auction happen. You guys make me proud...:

Now can someone upload some pictures of Cricket, Diana and the girls running the raffle/auction tables? They had the hardest job all day and I don't have any pictures of it on my phone, but there are pictures on the other camera I was using for Florida Sportsman, so I know it'll be uploaded soon.

I want to end by thanking everyone again. I remember a couple of months ago, I was pulling my hair out and thinking "what did I get myself into..." It's thanks to the list of people below who went above and beyond to make this successful. Now that it's over, I am anxious to share with you soon how much was raised by your combined efforts, and look forward to it again next year. This was not some epic fishing report, but it's an experience I will remember always.

Thank you volunteers:
Mike Senecal (Sene)
Sarah Senecal and her two friends (Jess & Jess)
Darrel Schuler (familythyme)
Cricket Schuler

Great job everyone! ACR Electronics is proud to be part of this wonderful day.

My children had a great time playing on the beach and did not want to go home. It was great to see some old forum friends and meet some new ones.

Hope you have finally relaxed, Long. My CPR skills are limited, but I thought you were going to require them Saturday. Great job by you, Mike, Darrel and all others involved.
