:fishing We can help the FWC help ourselves:
The overnight trips on the Florida Fisherman visits such areas as the Florida Middle Grounds, Elbow, and beyond. The 4/5 trip pushed out to an area known as the 40 fathom break. Often biologist from the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission, FWC, accompany these trips. The dedicated scientist from the FWC provide very valuable on the water data of our fishery. After a detailed study, many species are properly vented, tagged, and returned to the water, returned to fight again.
Jon, FWC biologist, hard at work on the Florida Fisherman. This ARS will be returned. If you catch him, out of season, record the tag #, vent, and return the fish, with tag, to the water. The FWC number to call is on the tag. The Angler tag Return Hotline is: 1-800-367-4461. You will receive a great 'T' shirt for reporting.

Often fish are caught with FWC tags attached:

We can help in the study of OUR fishery by reporting any tagged fish caught.
RECORD THE CAPTURE INFORMATION

Tag number, fish length, specific catch location.
Note any unusual circumstances regarding the catch.
When releasing a Goliath Grouper, hatchery Red drum or an east coast Snook, do NOT remove the streamer tag. Repeat captures of the same fish are not uncommon.
When releasing west coast Snook, cut the tag close to the body wall and return the tag to FWC.

It will only help if we get the law passed that state waters go to 20 fathoms, other wise its all in vain.

I would like that too, then my legal in state waters seabass(fish traps) would be back in some real fish.. WOOT!

****, might have to buy me some RG shares to cover the bycatch....

Wishful thinking on your and my part, but you can bet your bippy I'll lobby for my interests if this ever gets rolling.
I am glad to only be a bird hunter with bird dogs...being a shooter or dog handler or whatever other niche exists to separate appears to generate far too much about which to worry.

How do the Feds then bungle it up so much worse than Fla - Fla says the season needs to be longer, I presume using this data, and the Feds say only 28 days - a shorter season than last yr
