Late terra ceia report, monster trout

Friday afternoon I called my fishing partner scott and asked him what he thought about fishing this weekend and he said no man its going to be blowing and it's going to rain and blah blah blah. I said no problem, I'm going at the but crack of dawn to beat the weather, so if you change your mind call me. Well, it took him less than 15 seconds to say alright I'll go. Lol. So I said cool, I'll go get some select shrimp so we won't have to mess with it in the morning.

Hit the ramp Sat. morning at 6:30 and off we went. Got to our spot still in the dark and the bite started within seconds of our shrimp hitting the water. Small fish, flounder, couple of trout and some lady's. Looked promising as we drifted toward our Redfish hole. Got to the hole and within minutes my bobber was acting funny. It slowly started to drift to the left and I knew it was a sluggish Redfish. I said to Scott I know thats a Red, they have done this to me before. I told him I'm not firing until that bobber takes off. So now he turns direction and slowly moves the other way. Finally after a good 10 seconds he takes off. Set the hook and fish on. Started peeling drag right away so I go yeah baby nice Red. This fight went on for a good 2 minutes and he was starting to tire a little and started getting him to the boat. Then he decides he's not done and shoots straight for the boat as Redfish like to do so I get a look at him!!! Oh my god dude it's a monster trout. Scott said no way, I said way. I finally get him boat side and Scott goes to net the beast. Problem is the net has seen better days and my line gets caught in it. NOOOO! So I calmly reach down and untangle the mess and Scott gets her in the net this time. We were both in awe. She measured 28 inches!!!! My biggest by 3 inches. After a couple of pics I got her back in the water to do battle again. This is my first report so I hope the pic comes out.

So we contined to fish and got 2 really nice trout for the cooler (19 and 21 in.). So now we have a new delema, out of shrimp. No problem a can of mak. and a cast net can't fix. One throw and about a dozen perfect size pins. Scott had been in a major Redfish slump (to the point where I didn't even want to catch any more when we were fishing together) LOL. So we pull up to mangroves and hi tide and its fish on for him. 21 inch red. About 2 minutes later bam he's hooked up again. Even better read at close to 24. That one came home with us. Wind was getting nasty so we headed to the ramp.

Great morning, especially since Scott didn't want to go fishing.
