Wagon Wheel: Interesting story behind the song: Bob Dylan wrote the chorus and worked on the music in 1972 for the "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" soundtrack, but never finished or published it. Jay Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show heard a bootleg copy of Dylan's Tune and wrote the verses to match his longing to leave the upstate New York area and travel south and get his music out there. The completed song was first on a EP release in 2001, then finally on an album in 2004.
Now covered by more bands than you can shake a stick at. Here's Old Crow MS with Darius Rucker doing it with gusto at the Grand Old Opry. (before Darius made his own studio version)
One of my favorite OCMS tunes.
Good tune, thanks Bob.
Dan Tucker died with a tooth ache in his heel.
