First Kayak trip!

I was lucky enough to have my wife get me a Hobie PA 12 for my Birthday and I got to try it out today. I left out of Week's fish camp with some buddies before the sun came up and we made a morning out of it. I have a lot of little gadgets to add and it did not help that I left my paddle at home, but I was able to use an extra push pole one of the guys happened to have. The other two guys slayed the trout, but I beat the bushes and really concentrated on getting some snook and redfish. I would up just short of the slam and never got a snook. Also really got into a fun time during a few "jack attacks" and fought a couple of them for fun. I learned a lot today and cannot wait to get out next time! I only used tipped jigs, top waters (with several big short strikes), and gulp shrimp.

My first redfish got caught in the Mirage drive and when I pulled it up to untangle the line, he decided to join me!

Gotta love those blue tails on redfish. Good report. I wish I had a quarter for every time I got out on the water and realized i'd left something at the house.
