Saturday Sarasota Area Fishing Report - FatSnook Jeff and I

Saturday morning Jeff and I met up at the ramp at 6:45. Within minutes we were off seeking shelter from the stiff S to SW winds. First couple of spots were slow, yielding a few trout, and finally this really nice pompano (below) that devoured a Sebile Stick Shad! A few more moves, a few more small trout and now Mr. Jeff says "tie on your go to redfish lure, we are going to jump on the flats". Within the first few casts, Jeff misses a nice red on the Sebile... Next cast I am on a nice red (below) that nailed a Lil John. The action lasted for approx 2 hours, and we did well... In those 2 hours we landed 13 redfish, and 1 decent snook (below). Hot lure was definately the Lil John. LOOOONG casts were required... And most if not all hits came within first few feet of the retrieve.

The Lil John is one of my go to soft plastics. Love several colors including the glow (white), Trout LOVE them.
