    Redfish and Gator Trout

Over the past few weeks the fishing has been really good... when the fish decide they want to eat. I've had days where we had a great tide, and found plenty of fish that won't eat. Most of the time persistence has paid off and we caught some nice fish. It seems like the bite will just turn on for a while and we catch a bunch of fish... then they shut off. I have seen, caught and released more big trout this year than ever before. It seems like the reds have been bigger than normal this winter as well. There is no shortage of redfish and big trout, everywhere I've looked has had plenty of fish. I have been fishing topwater lures, and Sebile Stick Shadds. The Sebiles have been the best producers, however some days they really like the Zara Spooks. I like the Sebiles because they are easy to use for customers. I'm sure they could be caught on chunk bait as well.

I have been fishing the east side of Pine Island Sound from Regla to Pineland. Some days the fish seem to be more active in certain areas. I just keep trying different areas until I find fish willing to cooperate. There is very little red tide, if any in the areas I have been fishing.

    Good Luck!

They didn't really seem to turn on with any specific tide, and they haven't been eating on any kind of schedule. Kinda strange. On Tuesday we had a decent bite in the morning, then it died in the afternoon- it was supposed to be and outgoing tide but the 25mph south wind held that off for several hours. Just before sunset the wind died down and the water was rushing off the flats and they ate like crazy. A few times last week we had just a little bit of cloud cover for a short time which seemed to make them eat. Each day is different, I think tomorrow should be pretty good with the cloud cover and strong tides...

Nice fish! How do the Sebile lures compare to mirrolure or live targets?

There really isn't anything else on the market like the floating Sebile Stick Shadds. They run from the surface to about 4" deep and have great action. Everything else will run deeper. I have only tried a few of the Live Target baits

I use the floating 90mm Stick Shadds. Amber fashion and natural mullet are good colors
