Over the past few weeks the fishing has been really good... when the fish decide they want to eat. I've had days where we had a great tide, and found plenty of fish that won't eat. Most of the time persistence has paid off and we caught some nice fish. It seems like the bite will just turn on for a while and we catch a bunch of fish... then they shut off. I have seen, caught and released more big trout this year than ever before. It seems like the reds have been bigger than normal this winter as well. There is no shortage of redfish and big trout, everywhere I've looked has had plenty of fish. I have been fishing topwater lures, and Sebile Stick Shadds. The Sebiles have been the best producers, however some days they really like the Zara Spooks. I like the Sebiles because they are easy to use for customers. I'm sure they could be caught on chunk bait as well.
I have been fishing the east side of Pine Island Sound from Regla to Pineland. Some days the fish seem to be more active in certain areas. I just keep trying different areas until I find fish willing to cooperate. There is very little red tide, if any in the areas I have been fishing.
Good Luck!
