Need help with the Reds out of Key Largo
After 2 weeks of searching high and low around Key Largo, I have come up empty on Redfish. Spent all day today at Davis and Trout Cove to no avail...plastics, swim baits, popping cork, shrimp, gulp...could be just bad luck. Anyone willing to share some advice? We can discuss via PM or phone and even willing to take you on my boat if you've got the time and talent.
I've broken the code on Mangrove and trout but the redfish is winning at the moment.
Thanks
Jeff

Well from what I know you have to just find those deep passes and areas that reds want to be they can be a picky fish to catch

The reds up here are indeed a little tricky, definitely not like to our far west and southwest. I have had some luck in/around the island moat areas along mangrove lines on high tides, and along the points. Trolling motor or push pole, and find somewhere the mullet are milling around. Gotta be activity of some sort, or the fish won't be holding in there. Was out a couple weeks ago eating a sandwich and had pilchards swim right up to the boat. Chummed them, netted some, then caught reds on the other side of the little island I was anchored off of. I by no means can guarantee a red catch when I go out back, but I at least see some or have an opportunity to catch one. I have much better luck catching trout up here.
