    I don't dispute that.
    I believe that all the characters in this particular situation are authentic .

    Pauls letter to Philemon was accepted without query as Scriptural and canonical by almost
    all the congragations from Rome to N. Africa since at least 170 C.E. up until the Council of Carthage in 397 c.e.

    It was revered as a factual event amoungst the Early Christians.


    So was it cannonized as a real life example, to be used as a teaching example?

    As someone who doesn't understand the violent reactions associated with religious belief, this was a fascinating read.

    Good point. This is why this letter is not a parable because it is plain to see the author of this letter never intended it to be read as a parable.
