Headed out late this morning since I was flying solo today. Got the last two gogs at Anglers and was in the water by sunrise. Odd, no other kayakers this morning?
The cold breeze was coming out of the NW strong and it helped to push me out to 275' pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the current was ripping so bad jigging was impossible, even with 7oz jigs. The waves weren't big, but they were the little 2-3ft hull slappers that remind you that you cannot stay dry in a kayak offshore.
Came back into 150' with gog in tow and intent on jigging a bit. After drifting a bit my livebait rig starts screaming and I try to keep calm and NOT lock up the drag like I did 2 weeks ago (when I lost a sail) and after a nice little fight came up with a 37" Kingfish.
The rest of the morning was non-productive, so I came in early.
There's a bit of weed in the water, but its scattered. Might be some weedlines forming tomorrow for those lucky enough to get out there.
Tight lines everyone.
