    First snookie

Sorry guys - no pics. But, its a little challenging in the kayak and I really don't want my phone to go for a swim, if you know what I mean. I'm sorta new to the area - grew up here 30 years ago, and just moved back a couple weeks ago. Been taking the kayak out the last week or so off Crystal Beach/Palm Harbor area where I now live.

Anyhow, some nice replies to my post as to best bayou's to fish (Sutherland, Green, Boggy, &/or Klostermans since I live close to the water and walk to the launch point....) Got some good feedback so loaded up the yak this morning and headed north. Was throwing plastics and then got to some backwater where it was nice and calm so switched to a skitterwalk in bone color... got crushed by a nice 29 inch snook between mangroves and a dock. Took the yak for a power ride for a few minutes, but lucky for me, she stayed far enough away from the dock that I was able to control her... got her in the net around 11 or so this morning, unhooked and revived her, and sent her off...

    couple firsts...

First snook ever on topwater, first slot snook in about forever - now they just have to open the season... and first one in a kayak.

now, if I can figure out how to have a camera out in the yak...

    What a blast!

Nice going. Keep a waterproof camera in your shirt pocket. I wear a fly vest while kayaking and keep all my tackle and camera there.

Have to catch up with ya sometime and meet at Anclote Park Ramp.. Put your yak in my boat an I can haul you across to Dutchman Key 3.8 miles .. Drop you off for a few good fishing hours and then head back whenever.. I will be either fishing the points or on the north side of Anclote.. Water almost gets to skinny for my Key West 246 BR but have the trolling motor to go all around that area.. The skitter's an chunked ladys do just fine back there..
