    Feb full moon wahoo?

Hi I am new to the site. My dad will be in marathon for the whole month of Feb. I will be going down for the week of the full moon. I have never caught a wahoo and from what I understand around the full moon is best. What is your best technique live bait, trolling, chunking, ect. Any help would be awesome. Look for the boat PAMDORA 1976 23' MAKO and say Hi. Looking for some fishing buddys down in the keys.

Can't help with the wahoo but welcome to the forum & bring some lighter wind with you when you come down. Again, welcome.

Thanks for the welcome. I sure hope that the wind dies down. I will try to bring some lighter winds with me but coming from the windy city that might be tough. thanks again for the welcome. I will be giving you guys some reports when I get down there. Hopefully with some wahoo in it.

Hi Pamdora, Welcome to the forum. There seems to be 3 main methods. 1. Slow trolling, kite, and drift fishings live bait like blue runners. 2. Medium high speed trolling (6 to 9 MPH) arti's and rigged dead baits. And very high speed trolling (12 to 15 MPH) specific arti's. Decided which of those methods would work for you, and then do a search, or ask in the General fishing forum. The FS Keys forums are in 2 parts: General and Fishing Reports. "Reports" is for just that. Some very good fishermen may not answer you in the wrong forum for posting questions.

Good Luck, and be sure to post the results of your adventures!

It depends on bait. If you can load up on pilchards I would anchor over some good looking structure and chum chum chum. You'll also have action on kings, tuna's, etc.

50w reels...trolling weights, shock leader and wahoo lures...troll around 12k just off the edge (100-250ft)...incoming and/or outgoing tide...try and get lines in the water before the sun even comes up

if you dont have that gear then you can just fly kite or free line some baits as mentioned above and hope a wahoo hits....but the above method is the way if you are targeting
