Kelley Fishing Fleet - Reef Report. Feb '13

    2/2/13
Made our way up north to two spots in 35' and 25'. Picked at the grovers, got about 15 of them. About 5 lanes. ONE legal yellowtail and a LOT of grunts. Had zero current and a swinging boat. Worth mentioning we got a 25" gag that went swimming.

Lots of lanes. About 45 of them. Couple grovers and a single yellowtail.

Went out to 55' and the current was like a river. Stayed there for about an hour and picked out one grover and a couple grunts. Ended up coming into 30' and had a perfect north current. Brought in 20 tails to 16", 10 grovers to 2lb and some more grunts.

Went up north in 30' and caught about 35 yellowtail to 17", 15 grovers to 2lb, 10 lanes and a bunch of grunts. For every tail we kept we threw 5-10 back. If you're going to go fishing do it tomorrow, this weekend is going to be sporty.

By the time I get out of the marina it's dark so I can't tell you about the grass flats. However there's been nights where they're pretty thick in the chumline. Last night however we had a bunch of ballyhoo behind the boat.

Picked at the tails, Got 20 or so in a 15 minute span. Rest of the evening was pretty uneventful. Couple grovers, couple happy groupers. Lanes and grunts.

Miserable. Maybe 10 snapper and an equal amount of grunts.

No customers. Would have been the same, if not worse, than yesterday.

    Wacane, no prob.

No current and a stout E/ESE wind had the boat swinging around like crazy. Tried two spots in 65' and 55'. Both spots produced about 10 legal tails and 2 barely legal muttons.

Worth noting that the day trips for the last couple days has been on fire with the kingfish. Here's a picture from a morning trip a couple of days ago.
