Woman accused of kicking people's genitals charged with punching deputy
A Sarasota woman accused of kicking people in the genitals is facing charges of battery on a law enforcement officer after she allegedly punched a deputy in the face.
The deputy had been called to the 5600 block of Sixth Street Court E at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday to investigate reports that a woman was running around in the street and kicking people in the genitals, officials said.
When the deputy arrived, he encountered Katina Collins, 38, who matched the description of the woman, the report said. The deputy said Collins walked away from him when he asked her to stop, so he began running after her.
That's when Collins allegedly turned and punched the deputy in the face.
The deputy got Collins on the ground, but while he was trying to handcuff her, she tried to scratch him, the report said.
Collins is being held at the Manatee County Jail on $2,000 bond.
