News of the day. Also in the headlines were the usual words unexpected, surprise, unexpectedly when talking about the decline in GDP. Although, many have predicted another recession for this year.

That's a telling chart right there. Overall prosperity for the 2000's with a dip at 9/11/2001. The freefall began when this country realized we either had a middle east hawk or the skidmark as our next president. I think that nailed it.

The decline was due to fewer gov jobs, as stated, tempered by an increase in private companies payrolls.

My conclusion is that the economy's chugging along. Slowly, but forward momentum, nonetheless.

Maybe, maybe not. The next few months will tell whats going to happen. From debt ceiling to sequestration - likely another downgrade, followed by stagnated growth.
The Commerce Department says the economy contracted at an annual rate of 0.1 percent in the fourth quarter. That's a sharp slowdown from the 3.1 percent growth rate in the July-September quarter.
it went from a growth of 3.1% to a decrease of 0.1%, thats a -3.2% swing in growth. Your conclusion is wrong, no forward momentum this quarter. Thats not a good sign.
