I know there were more folks out this past weekend

But no reports? I made it out late on Sunday after working till 1 pm... found a big school of perfect pinfish in the bay and they showed like a huge school of glass minnows. Decided to drop the sabiki and got about 14 before I decided that I had enough bait to do whatever. Went out the pass to some structure in about 54 feet just outside the pass. As I was passing the #, the screen was lit up! I was thinking, self, what could this be. as I had planned on fishing for reds in the pass, I only had one large spinning reel to do the work. Well long story short, I was schooled repeatedly

made several passes and was broken off 3 times, and pulled the hook another 4-5 times. The way they were marking the machine, I was thinking reds offshore. If they had been ARS, I would have landed them... if they had been gags in the 10-12 pound range I would have had em... so I left when it was starting to get dark with my tail between my legs.

Never saw one of the fish, but whatever they were, they were strong and hungry. Gotta go down south this weekend for my lil sisters wedding, but the following (weather permitting) I will be back with a more stout set up.

Hope everyone that went out had a fun weekend. I know there were a ton of you out, cause I saw a bunch of boats coming in from offshore as I was just getting out the pass. POst em up!

You need to show me where you found those baits, and then I'll show how to put fish in the boat.

We couldn't find chofers on Sunday for anything. Plan was to try for some keeper triggers and flounder on some near shore stuff. So we took some live squirrels and strip baits behind grub heads... caught 1 short flounder. Then fished some super close natural bottom and caught 3 nice gags, probably 10 keeper snapper and maybe 10 triggers that were 12-13". Also, every spot we fished (maybe four all within a few miles of the pass) had lots of 3-4" sharks on them. I mean thick. YOu'd get one to the boat on flounder gear and he'd have two or three behind him.

We did see a sunfish out there. He was up top swimming NW to SE, so basically following the beach. Pretty neat. We got almost close enough for a good pic with him uptop and somebody said kill the engine. I thought to myself, I know usually when something changes (in or out of gear, motor/engine on or off) that's when a school of bait, a school of fish, a solo fish will sound / dart / disappear. Well, I killed the engine adn he just sank down never to be seen agian. Should have just kept her steady in gear and motored right up to it. We did get one pic, but it's pretty sorry. I'll see if I can get it from the guy and post it up.

Hathaway means an extra 40 min of running for me and $35. Worth.it day before a real trip, but we were just messing around last Sunday. Good to know they are thick there now. Too bad all groupers are out now.
