We launched the Pro Anglers out of Pineland Marina on Saturday in hopes of catching a tarpon. We cast netted some pinfish and greenbacks and decided to head out towards the stilt houses. On the way out, we ran into some schools of lady fish that were tearing up the Unfair Lures Rip-n-Slash in the pearl olive color. While going for the lady fish to put in the Hobie Livewell, I caught a couple of nice trout as well.
Once we arrived at the stilt houses, there was a few other boats in the area. We set out some live ladyfish and a few cut baits. After ten minutes I get a great hit. The fish starts taking off and then it was gone. This would be the repeating story of the day as sharks seemed to be almost swarming the area! We had a few steel leaders on hand and those were bit through almost instantly. We went through two packs of circle hooks before calling it a day. Managed to catch a three foot blacktip on a cut bait. But only had a few bites that were likely tarpon, but no fish jumped.
