    Pensacola bay

Pensacola bay has been on fire. I love this time of year. Big schools of monster red fish, fun and gun fishing.

Fun times with over 30 fish to the boat on this trip. Flat worn out after a day of some serious battles.

Not the biggest fish of the day, but a beautiful fish. Love the blue in the tail!

Nice! That some good looking gold fish! I need to get out of the woods and on the water!

Nice! Love the spots on the red! Thanx for sharing with us. I am pushing myself to get back on the water. I heard the Spanish were still sticking around the PCB area.

Yeah, we went fishing last Sat... was just too hot for me to get excited about the woods. We caught some nice seabass in the bay and some sand trout. Not real serious fishing, but it was fun and the boat needed to be run anyway.

Spanish may not be thick in the bay right now, but my father in law wore them out LATE into the fall this year. Oh, and there are always some in the bay. Back when bottom fishing was legal in the winter I'd catch quite a few while fishing for chofers in deep water for bait.

Lighttackle2fun... I'm not terribly familiar with Pensacola bay, but I know it's pretty deep in a lot of places. How deep were you catching those reds? How were you finding them? Were they under those birds? How deep was it where those birds were working?

Looking for birds mainly. The fish run all over from 20-30 ft. If in the pass down to 60 ft. This time of year its bird watching and running. Big schools bust every where. We use 1oz 1 1/2 oz buck tail jigs Any color and normally tipped with a plastic with good action. The heaver jig is only necessary so you can make monster cast, to stay off the schools, and get you bait down fast and with a lot of action. We will have 15 20 boats racing from one side of the bay to another and on the right day the schools are up most of the day. Serious fun times.

Chasing those schools sounds like a ton of fun. Those are some nice looking fish. That last one is beautiful with those spots.
