Sarasota Bay Slam!! 1-12-13, 1-13-13

1-12-13, Took my dad out again on saturday. He proceeded to catch a slam! While I could only manage reds, but thats ok with me! All reds where upper slot or overslot. Kept one smaller one for dinner. The trout and snook where caught on a mirrodine and one red on a gold spoon. We cheated on the rest using cut ladyfish haha! Also one of the redfish had no spots!







1-13-13, My buddies and I hit it again sunday catching another slam! The snook and a couple trout where caught on a mirrodine and the big trout and reds where caught on cut ladyfish again. Wasn't meaning to use the ladyfish both days but we catch one and decide to use it and it worked great! The reds where upper or over slot again!





With the warm weather I guess the snook came out to the flats! Lots of mullet all over the flats too. Fishing the schools of mullet always seems to pay off!

Were you using the ladyfish under a cork or free-lining?

We would cast the chunks into schools of mullet or in pothole and let it sit on the bottom. it did not take long for the fish to find bait!!!

Nice fish man! How were you fishing the mirrodine...in potholes or across the top of the grass?

Thanks, we would fan cast them into potholes and mullet schools mostly, but also anywhere across the flat haha.

Thanks for the info. Berkley gulp is my usual go-to bait for pothole fishing but I'm going to give the mirrodine a try.
