Launched at CRB ramp today with my buddy Chris. Just a quick report as I am beat. We got out there around 10am and I tried to put him on some silver trout. The wind was brutal this morning and pretty much all day. We had no strikes in the silver zone so we came up on the flats between Little CRB and CRB. Water was skinny and we only managed some ladies. We were struggling. We worked up and down the flats and had no action.
My next thought was to work the CRB channel since I had caught some small trout there before. We got into the channel and were working jigs in the middle and on the sides of the channel. We began to catch trout. They weren't big and averaged probably 12", but a PB&J looks like steak to a starving man. We caught trout up and down the channel for about an hour. It was a lot of fun and doubled-up a number of times.
We went back into a calm cove off the channel and worked it for a while but had no luck. Back out to the flat and still a dead zone, despite the mullet activity. So it was back over to the channel. We worked up and down the channel. We would get into a mess of them and actually caught five trout on five consecutive casts. More double-ups and we had a really good time catching fish. I didn't keep track but we caught probably 70 trout between the two of us. No monsters, but some
very good action.
Chris had to get back so we headed for the ramp. It was a fun and relaxing day. We caught a lot of fish and shared some laughs. Good times!
