Fishing in Islamorada has been good lately, but sailfishing has been particularly good. There have been alot of fish in the area. We've been seeing several large packs of fish most days. Most of the fish I've seen in the last few days have been chasing bait showers in the 20 to 40' depths just inside the reef. I've seen several groups of 3 or 4 fish and one pack where there where at least 7 fish all on top chasing ballyhoo at the same time. It's been tricky getting alot of these fish to bite at times, but there have been so many opportunities that we've been putting some nice trips together. Yesterday we had 7 sails. Most of those fish came chasing bait showers, but we did raise several fish in the deeper water (100 to 140') slow trolling live ballyhoo throughout the day and managed to catch 2 of them that way. There's also been a nice bycatch of blackfin tuna, kingfish, and a few big wahoo around as well. Hopefully these fish will all stick around for a while
it's alot of fun out there right now.
