I second that. If not its the lightest of the sub specie of jack I've ever seen on the east coast.

My first thought was a Pacific Yellowtail, but I know a forum member from Tampa wouldn't try to throw us for a loop.
I will still stick with Rudderfish.

The FWC biologist at the Marina confirmed it was a Banded Rudderfish. The reason I asked was due to a few PMs after my report in the WC section telling me I had better get better with my fish recco, because I had harvested baby AJs. I just wanted to confirm what i knew all along, that they were in fact BRF. Thanks to everyone for your input.

Nice catch! When you landed the fish, how did you ID it as a rudderfish, what were the tell-tale signs to you?

yeah the white tips on the fins are a dead give away. I thought you would catch some crap for that post. However you did get already pms instead of being called out. Make sure you pay attention though because they are commonly confused with ajs.
